Xinhua News Agency, Bangkok, December 7 (Ren Di) The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department of the Ministry of the Interior of Thailand said on the 7th that heavy rains in many southern provinces have caused floods in the past few days, and so far 24 people have been killed.

According to the information released by the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department on the 7th, since November 25, heavy rains have occurred in the Gulf of Thailand and the southern region due to the northeast monsoon and low-pressure air currents for several days, resulting in the flooding of more than 555,000 houses, of which Luokun Prefecture was the most severely affected, with a total of 19 deaths and 180,000 houses.

According to the latest news released by the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Agency, although the local disaster situation has eased and the water level in some provinces is slowly falling, more than half of the areas will still receive rain this week, and the local flood situation is not optimistic.

He also said that the Ministry of Transport had been instructed to do its utmost to repair and unblock the traffic routes blocked by the flood, and the local military and police forces were urgently providing all help.
