Heavy rains and flooding in Sudan have killed 43 people

Khartoum, August 19 2021 The Sudanese government said on the 19th that the country has recently been hit by heavy rains and floods, which have killed 43 people and destroyed thousands of houses.

Sudan’s National Civil Defense Commission said the same day, the northern state was the worst affected, 23 people have been killed. In addition, more than 2,800 houses across the country have completely collapsed and more than 8,600 have partially collapsed.

Sudan’s National Civil Defence Council also said that the southern part of the country is expected to continue to rain in the near future, the local people still need to remain vigilant.

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said on the 18th, Sudan has eight states about 12,000 people affected by the storm and flooding.

Sudan’s rainy season usually begins in July and lasts until September or October, during which rainfall increases and floods occur frequently.
