Head of Canada’s largest pension institution stepped down after traveling abroad and getting vaccinated

The Canadian Pension Plan Investment Authority (CPPIB) issued a statement on the morning of February 26 local time, announcing that CEO Mark Machin had resigned.

The statement said, “After communication with Mr. Mechin last night, he expressed his willingness to resign and management accepted it.”

The reason for Mechin’s resignation is that the media revealed on the 25th that he has recently traveled abroad not only, but also been vaccinated against the novel coronavirus in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, despite the government’s request to avoid unnecessary travel abroad.

But under the Canadian vaccination plan, the vaccination of people over 80 years old has just begun.
