Ramallah, December 9 Hanan Ashrawi, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), issued a statement on the evening of the 9th confirming that he had submitted his resignation to Palestinian President Abbas, who had accepted her resignation.

In a statement, Ashrawi said that she had a frank and friendly conversation with Abbas on November 24, informing Abbas that she had decided to resign from the Executive Committee, which will take effect at the end of this year.

Ashrawi said that she submitted her written resignation to Abbas on November 26 and met with Abbas again on the 8th of this month to confirm her resignation. Abbas accepted her resignation on the evening of the 9th. She said that she would continue to do everything she could to serve the Palestinian people after resigning from public office.

Ashrawi did not mention the reason for his resignation in his statement.

According to Palestinian and Israeli media reports, Ashrawi resigned in protest against Palestine’s decision to resume security and civil cooperation with Israel in mid-November.

Ashrawi is a senior Palestinian politician and advocate of the feminist movement.
