After meeting with the Committee of Health Experts on February 5, the Greek government announced the following epidemic prevention measures will be added to Attica and Thessaloniki from February 6:

  • 1. The curfew time on Saturday and Sunday is from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day;
  • 2. Supermarkets are only allowed to open on Saturdays and close at 5 p.m.;
  • 3. All retail stores are only allowed to operate in the mode of “order and pick-up” from Monday to Friday.
  • 4. Primary and junior high schools remain open, and senior high school students carry out distance teaching.

According to the Greek government, not only the eastern Attica region, the western Attica region, the northern suburbs of Athens, the western suburbs of Athens, the southern suburbs of Athens and the central area of Athens, as well as Piraeus, Patre, Shiva, Patre, Sparta, etc., but also Santorini and Leh, which are marked as the red zone of the epidemic.

Famous islands such as Swasworth, Mykonos and Zakynthos.

The curfew time in the above-mentioned areas is from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day.

In fact, the Greek government and the members of the expert group have different opinions on what epidemic prevention measures to take.

Gegos, a Greek professor of pathology and a member of the expert committee, agreed with the hard blockade measures, emphasizing the importance of reducing travel, saying that these measures have been relatively light restrictions.

However, Martina Pagani, president of the Athens and Piraeus Hospital Association, said that these new measures will not work, because the current epidemic prevention measures have not been fully implemented, and the competent authorities should first implement the immediate measures.

If the measures are not implemented, it will be useless to issue new measures every two days.

It is reported that some members of the government expert committee have recommended the complete closure of retail stores in the “red zone” of the epidemic.

But this is bound to cause a strong reaction in the retail industry.

Some experts believe that only the retail industry in the “red zone” of the epidemic should be allowed to implement the “order and pick-up” marketing model.

“The opening of schools has led to an increase in the flow of people, and all schools should be closed immediately before a new wave of epidemics in order to keep the retail industry running,” Capravelos, director of the ICU at Papanicola Hospital, said in an interview.
