German Federal Interior Minister Zehofer tested positive for the coronavirus the day before and was diagnosed with Coronavirus, German media reported Monday. A spokesman for the Interior Ministry said Zehofer was not currently symptomatic and had begun to take home isolation measures.
Last week, Zehofer attended a federal cabinet meeting and held a press conference on politically motivated crimes in Germany last year. But it is not clear where he contracted the virus.
Zehofer, 71, received the first dose of Pfizer on April 14th, according to German vaccination priorities.
Zehofer is not the first federal cabinet member to be diagnosed with the infection. Last October, German Federal Health Minister Frank-Yvrus Spence also tested positive for coronavirus.
