Germany environmentalists protest against building highways in forests, police climb trees to arrest people
November 19, according to Reuters, from November 10th to 11th local time, environmentalists launched a demonstration in the forest near Stadtallendorf in western Germany to protest the government’s presence in the forest. Expand the A49 highway.
The police had to enter the forest to disperse the demonstrators.
Photographs at the scene showed that the demonstrators pulled up hammocks and hung up protest signs on the heights of the forest. To express their protest, they left lighted candles on tree stumps, and some people used broken wood to erect roadblocks to prevent road expansion.
The police went to the forest to arrest the demonstrators. Facing the demonstrators on the heights, the police had to go up the tree to pull them down and carry them away. Subsequently, the roadblocks and camping tents left by the demonstrators were cleared.
