“The plan of Tesla Berlin factory is shaking!” Germany’s Bild reported on the 9th that the Administrative Court of Frankfurt am Oder in eastern Germany made a provisional decision on the 8th that the planned forest cleaning of Tesla Super Factory must be suspended because cutting down trees may endanger snakes and lizards in hibernation.
Tesla’s forest cleanup had previously been approved by the state of Brandenburg’s environmental protection department, but two environmental organizations, the German Conservation Union and the Green Alliance, filed a lawsuit against Tesla.
They claimed that the scale snakes may be hiberating underground, and the hibernation period will not end until February or March next year, followed by the mating season, and tree-cutting factories may disturb them. At the same time, it may also have an impact on the life of sand lizards. In view of this, the Administrative Court will conduct an investigation before making a final decision.
This is not the first time that the construction project of Tesla Berlin factory has been suspended due to opposition from environmental organizations. In February this year, the project was suspended by the local administrative court for “cutting a large number of trees will pose a threat to local wildlife and water supply”.
