Outside the Indian Embassy in the United States, the statue of Gandhi was damaged.

According to the Indian Tribune on the 14th, the statue of Mahatma Gandhi outside the Indian Embassy in the United States was damaged by Sikh separatists on the 12th. In response, the Indian Embassy in the United States strongly protested.

According to the Hindu newspaper, on the day of the incident, Sikh youth in many parts of the United States were holding peaceful protests in solidarity with Indian farmers in opposing the agricultural reform bill.

Shortly after the peaceful demonstration, a group of Sikh separatists carried the flag of the “Kalistan Movement” (the representative of Indian Sikh separatism) and anti-Indian posters and slogans. Some of them jumped on the statue of Gandhi and pasted posters on it to carry out damage.

The Indian Embassy in the United States issued a statement on the 13th, strongly condemning the malicious sabotage carried out by these “hoooligans pretending to be protesters” and said that a preliminary investigation was being launched with the U.S. State Department and that the perpetrators would be acted on in accordance with relevant laws.

According to the report, this is the second time that the statue has been damaged this year.

In early June, the statue was not spared in the “inverted statue wave” caused by the death of the African-American man Freud.
