Starting from February 15th local time, passengers or returnees entering Canada through 117 ports on the Canadian-American land border must hold a 72-hour certificate that the nucleic acid test results are negative for COVID-19.

According to the relevant regulations of the Canadian government, even if the result is negative, there will be a 14-day quarantine period after entering the country.

Canadians who cannot provide a negative certificate but need to return to China will face a fine of 3,000 Canadian dollars, although they can enter the country.

However, truck drivers and medical staff who undertake logistics transportation between the two countries are not bound by this provision.

Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau believes that this new restriction will effectively reduce the spread of Variant novel coronavirus in Canada.

However, some Canadians questioned it.

They believe that truck drivers travel through 14 states in the United States, and then through multiple provinces after entering Canada, staying in, eating, shopping, etc., and these people are at greater risk of spreading the novel coronavirus.
