Four French police officers suspected of beating an African-American man were charged on November 30, which triggered a large-scale demonstration in France.

A Paris judge accused the four police officers of attacking others as “public power personnel” on November 30, and three of them fabricated testimony. According to a judicial system source, two of the four police officers involved will continue to be detained, and the other two will be conditionally released.

The battered African music producer Zekler said that he went out late at night on November 21 and did not wear a mask in accordance with the regulations for the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic. He saw a police car and quickly returned to the studio. But several policemen chased him and beat him up in his studio.

Police beating Zechler on surveillance cameras, the video was released by a French website last week, which aroused public anger.

As a result of the incident, protests broke out in about 70 cities in France on November 28, with more than 130,000 people reportedly participating. Among them, 46,000 people in Paris participated in the protests, and some protesters clashed with the police. The French Ministry of the Interior said that the police arrested a total of 81 people and injured 98 policemen throughout the country.
