Paris, April 4th – Bernard Darby, a wealthy French businessman, was robbed in his house outside Paris on the 4th local time. French President Macron expressed concern about the case.
According to the police, the burglary occurred at about 0:30 a.m. local time on the 4th. Four suspects broke into Darby’s house outside Paris, and the Darbys had rested when the suspects broke in. The suspect beat the Darbys and tied them up with wires, and then robbed them.
Darby’s wife manages to escape and flees to her neighbor’s house, where she manages to call the police. She was slightly injured by the beating and was taken to the hospital for examination, but she is expected to be discharged soon. Darby himself was rescued and refused to go to the hospital, although he was also slightly injured.
According to sources involved in the investigation of the case, the suspect robbed two watches, including a Rolex watch, in addition to the items that were looted, including jewelry such as earrings, bracelets and rings. The police initially classified the case as “violent robbery and kidnapping”. According to French BFM and other media reports, Macron talked to Darby on the same day and expressed concern about the case.
Darby, 78 years old, is a well-known wealthy French businessman. He served as a member of the French National Assembly in the 1990s and served as the Minister of Urban Affairs. He has been involved in a series of corruption, tax fraud and misuse of corporate assets.
