France Minister of Economy: The France economy will return to negative growth in the fourth quarter of this year

French Minister of Economy, Finance and Revitalization Bruno Le Maire stated on October 26 that, affected by the rebound of the epidemic and its response measures, the French economy will again experience negative growth in the fourth quarter of this year.

Le Maire made the above remarks when he was questioned by the National Assembly on the government’s 2021 fiscal year budget draft. Recently, Le Maire made a similar statement. He revealed that the current six-week curfew in 54 local provinces and French Polynesia will cause a loss of 2 billion euros.

Nevertheless, in the face of the rapid development of the new crown pneumonia epidemic that exceeded expectations, the French government is currently studying to increase its response measures and does not rule out the possibility of blocking some cities. Le Maire said in this regard that if a new epidemic response plan is introduced in the next few days, the government will take new measures to help the affected industries after assessing the relevant situation.

Previously, the French government predicted that the economy will fall by 10% this year and will grow by 8% next year. Although the second wave of the epidemic has rebounded rapidly, the French government still maintains the above forecast.
