Fourty-four people have died in the sinking of an Indian barge

May 19 2021 Fourtean people have been killed and 75 others are missing after a barge sank off Mumbai, Indian media reported Thursday, citing Indian navy sources.

17, tropical cyclone Tauketai (formerly known as Taute) landed in Mumbai, a previously drilling operations in the sea off Mumbai, a barge sank in the wind and waves hit. A total of 273 crew members were on board at the time of the incident.

The Indian Navy began an emergency rescue operation on the 17th, has successfully rescued 184 people in distress, and found the bodies of 14 victims in the sea near the site of the incident. The rescue of the missing persons is still ongoing.

Starting from the 15th, tropical cyclone Tauketai began to hit the southwestern coast of India, including Kerala, Goa and other western Indian states have been severely attacked, several villages were destroyed, dozens of people died.
