December 24 – According to Kyodo News Agency of Japan, the Agricultural Association “JA Huijin Yotuba” of Kazurumatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture, held a delivery ceremony for the export of rice to the United States on the 24th.

In September, the United States lifted import restrictions on Japanese-made food after the Fukushima nuclear accident. According to Fukushima Prefecture, after the nuclear accident, the county produced rice exported to Southeast Asia and other countries, but it was the first time that it was exported to the United States.

This shipment is 140 kg of the original product of the county. The rice will participate in the Japanese food event hosted by NPO in Los Angeles in March 2022.

At the delivery ceremony, Masashi Hasegawa, chairman of the Agricultural Association, recalled that the image damage could not be eliminated for a long time, saying that “I have taken various countermeasures in the past 10 years and finally achieved export, which is really happy”.

According to Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the United States is Japan’s third largest exporter of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products and food.

After the Fukushima nuclear accident, 55 countries and regions restricted the import of Fukushima food, leaving 14 countries and regions after the withdrawal of the United States.
