May 23, Rutfi, a spokesman for Indonesia’s Zhanshi Search and Rescue Agency, said local search and rescue personnel had found five of the eight people missing in the sinking of the cargo ship and confirmed their deaths. Police are now identifying the deceased one by one.
On May 22, an Indonesian cargo ship carrying 26 people sank in a large wave in the waters near Zhanshi, rescued 18 people and disappeared.
