December 13th, European Council President Michelle said in an interview with Radio France that he just wanted to say “keep calm” about reports that British warships are on standby for patrol missions without agreement to negotiate future relations between Britain and Europe.
Michelle stressed that it is not to say that the negotiations should lose calm and exaggerate that Britain and the EU are friends, partners and allies, and the interdependence and interconnectedness between the two are complex.
Mitchell believes that it is in the interest of the EU to maintain close and friendly relations with the United Kingdom.
But Michelle also reiterated that the EU does not want an agreement at any cost.
Good agreements in the EU’s eyes must respect the principle of fair competition, and the open economy adhered to by the EU should be based on fairness and reciprocity.
