European Commission Vice-President Tests Positive for Covid-19

Xinhua News Agency, Brussels, October 27th (Reporter Li Jizhi) European Commission Vice President Margaritis Chinas announced on the 27th that he had tested positive for the Covid-19 that day and immediately began self-isolation.

Sinos is the second European Commissioner to test positive for the new coronavirus recently. Earlier, European Commissioner Gabriel in charge of innovation and youth affairs announced on the 10th that he tested positive for the Covid-19.

The European Commission holds a regular meeting in Brussels every Wednesday morning. As a preventive measure during the epidemic, all the staff of the European Commission conduct routine tests for the new coronavirus twice a week.

According to the European Commission’s health and epidemic prevention regulations in Belgium, patients diagnosed with the Covid-19 should self-isolate for at least 7 days. 

After the quarantine period expires, those who do not have a fever for more than three days and have no symptoms of breathing difficulties can be released from the quarantine.
