January 22 According to a report by Russia Satellite Network on the 22nd, European Commission President von der Leyen said that the European Union will have more than the required dose of COVID-19 vaccines in a few months, so the European Commission is ready to propose a mechanism to transfer some vaccines to third countries.

According to the report, von der Leyen said recently: “In a few months, we will have more than the dose we can use.” She added that the European Commission may therefore propose a mechanism to obtain a certain number of vaccines for third countries.

On 21 December 2020, European regulators approved the use of vaccines developed by Pfizer and Biotech for the European market.

On the same day, the European Commission officially approved the vaccine, and a few days later, the vaccine began to be supplied to EU countries.

The initial contract procurement volume was 300 million doses.

Subsequently, on January 8, von der Leyen announced an update of his contract with Pfizer/Biotechnology to purchase 300 million additional doses of the original 300 million coronavirus vaccine.

On January 6, 2021, the EU regulator approved the use of a second vaccine within the EU, which was developed by Modena. The number of purchases signed with the company reached 160 million doses.

The European Commission has also signed vaccine supply contracts with AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Sanofi/GramssoSmithKline, and CureVac.
