Addis Ababa, November 4 The Ethiopian Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement by Prime Minister Abiy on the 4th, announcing that it had taken military action against the “Tigray People’s Liberation Front” attack on a military base in northern Ethiopia.
The statement stated that the “Tigray People’s Liberation Front” attacked the National Defense Forces base in Tigray State in northern Ethiopia in the early hours of the 4th and attempted to rob the National Defense Forces artillery and other military equipment.
The statement pointed out that the attack by the “Tigray People’s Liberation Front” on the 4th “has crossed the last red line” and the federal government was forced to take military action.
He also called on the Ethiopian people to remain calm, vigilant in the face of possible riots, and stand with the federal government and the National Defense Forces at critical times.
The “Tigray People’s Liberation Front” is the core party of the former Ethiopian ruling party, the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front, and it actually controlled the Ethiopian government.
Abi became prime minister in April 2018, and formally established a new ruling party, the Ethiopian Prosperity Party, in December 2019, excluding the “Tigray People’s Liberation Front”. Since then, the contradictions between the two parties have intensified.
