On February 12th, local time, Italian Prime Minister-designate Draghi met with President Matarella, officially accepted the appointment, and announced the list of cabinet ministers.

The newly formed government will be sworn in on the 13th, ending the month-long political crisis in the country.

On January 13 this year, dissatisfied with the performance of then Prime Minister Conte, the Italian Vitality Party led by former Prime Minister Matteo Renzi withdrew from the ruling coalition, which lost its absolute majority in the Senate of Parliament.

In order to avoid a passive situation, Conte submitted his resignation to the President on January 26.

After several rounds of consultations, Italian President Matarella decided on the 3rd of this month to authorize Draghi to form a new cabinet.

Draghi, 73 years old, is a famous Italian banker and economist who was the president of the European Central Bank.
