According to meteorologist Taylor Ward, the extremely cold weather is expected to move eastward on the 18th local time, which will bring half an inch of ice (about 1.27 centimeters) to parts of North Carolina and Virginia, and introduce it in Texas and Oklahoma.

With no electricity to help weather the cold, many people have turned to other ways, such as using gas stoves and generators to keep warm.

So far, 38 people have died in the winter storm. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warned on the 17th that the risk of people dying of carbon monoxide poisoning is increasing as the storm sweeps across the United States.

From Saturday to Monday (February 15), four adults in Oregon died of carbon monoxide poisoning while trying to warm themselves, one person lit charcoal in the car and three others hid in the car, according to the Krakamas County Sheriff’s Office.

In addition, 16 residents of Texas have lost their lives due to weather, while the rest of the deaths are distributed in Tennessee, Oregon, Kentucky, North Carolina, Louisiana, Ohio, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
