February 15 Afghan officials said on the 15th that from the night of the 14th to the 15th, the Afghan security forces clashed with militants of the extremist organization Islamic State or the Taliban in many places, killing a total of 22 people.

The government of Nangarhar Province in eastern Afghanistan issued a statement on the 15th, saying that security forces raided a hiding place of the Islamic State on the outskirts of Jalalabad, the capital of the province, on the night of the 14th, killing seven militants, including a suicide attacker.

In addition, the security forces seized a varying number of AK-47 automatic rifles, as well as explosives such as bomb vests and grenades, during the operation.

ISIS is active in parts of Nangarhar Province.

At present, the organization has not responded to the government’s statement.

The police chief of Chabul Province in southern Afghanistan, Hickmat Kochay, said on the 15th that on the night of the 14th, an armed element infiltrated the police force and killed four policemen in a security checkpoint outside Karat, the provincial capital.

The police are investigating the incident.
