As Biden approaches his 100th day in office, 53 percent of Americans approve of the way Biden has handled his job since taking office, according to a CNN poll released April 28 local time, down from previous presidents such as Ford and Trump, whose approval ratings have fallen since pardoning former President Richard Nixon.
According to the poll, 54 percent of Americans are optimistic about the current state of the economy, and 58 percent think the U.S. economy will return to good shape in a year’s time.
Biden received a net positive approval rating of seven of the nine questions in the poll, with a top approval rating of 54 percent for his handling of racial injustice and more than half for the economy (51 percent), taxes (50 percent).
A further 48 percent approve of Biden’s job in foreign affairs. Biden’s weaknesses in the polls are his immigration policy (41 percent in favor) and gun policy (40 percent in favor).
Seventy-eight percent of Americans think the current situation on the U.S.-Mexico border is a crisis, and 65 percent disapprove of the way the U.S. government treats immigrants trying to cross the border.
