On December 7, 2020, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a video exchange with a delegation from the board of directors of the U.S.-China National Trade Commission in Beijing.
Wang Yi said that in the face of major global challenges such as the spread of the epidemic and the economic recession, China and the United States should work together to show their responsibilities and responsibilities.
China and the United States can fully find an entry point for cooperation in dealing with the epidemic, promoting economic recovery, and combating climate change. At present, the most urgent task is to jointly prevent and control the epidemic.
Whether it is sharing diagnosis and treatment experience, production of protective materials, vaccine research and development, drug development, we need to cooperate.
China is willing to continue to provide support to the United States in the fight against the epidemic within its capabilities. The two sides can strengthen cooperation in the economic and trade fields, restart macroeconomic policy dialogue and coordination, consider resuming Sino-US investment agreement negotiations, jointly maintain the stable operation of the supply chain of the global industrial chain, and help the two countries and the global economic recovery.
The two sides can cooperate on addressing climate change and developing new energy sources, jointly build a clean and beautiful world, and realize the harmonious coexistence of man and nature.
Wang Yi: China and the United States can sort out and form a three list of dialogue, cooperation and control differences.
Wang Yi said that China and the United States should open a dialogue at all levels. Any problem can be discussed on the table. It can not only communicate on strategic, overall and long-term issues, but also negotiate on some specific issues, seek breakthroughs and solutions, and strive to talk about results and enhance trust. The door to China’s dialogue has always been open.
The two sides can sort out and form a three list of differences in dialogue, cooperation and control to provide a clearer context for clarifying, maintaining and developing Sino-US relations as a whole. We also encourage the strategic research circles and business circles of the two countries to strengthen dialogue and exchanges, so as to play a constructive role in promoting the healthy and stable development of Sino-US relations.
Wang Yi: China and the United States should work together to restart dialogue, get back on track and rebuild mutual trust in the next stage of Sino-US relations.
Wang Yi said that the current Sino-US relations are at a critical historical juncture. In a congratulatory telegram to President-elect Biden, President Xi Jinping pointed out that “promoting the healthy and stable development of Sino-US relations is not only in the fundamental interests of the two peoples, but also the common expectation of the international community.
We hope that the two sides will adhere to the spirit of no conflict, no confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation, focus on cooperation, control differences, promote the healthy and stable development of Sino-US relations, and work with other countries and the international community to promote the noble cause of world peace and development.
This is China’s proposition and expectation for the next stage of Sino-US relations, and also hopes to become the common understanding of more and more people of insight from all walks of life in the United States.
It is imperative that the two sides should work together to eliminate all kinds of interference and resistance to achieve a smooth transition in Sino-US relations.
At the same time, in the direction of meeting the common interests of the two countries and peoples, we will strive to restart dialogue, get back on track and rebuild mutual trust in the next stage of Sino-US relations.
Wang Yi: We look forward to and believe that sooner or later, the US policy towards China should return to objectivity and rationality.
Wang Yi said that the fundamental reason why Sino-US relations have shown the most severe situation since the establishment of diplomatic relations is that some people in the United States adhere to the old Cold War thinking and ideological prejudices, view China’s development and Sino-US relations from the perspective of zero-sum games, regard China as an opponent or even enemy, and attack the system and road chosen by the Chinese people.
China has made a historical, directional and strategic mistake in carrying out all-round containment, and even advocating “decoupling” and “new cold war”.
China has always adhered to peaceful development, with the fundamental goal of making the Chinese people live a better life. Peaceful development has been written into the Chinese Constitution and the Constitution of the Communist Party of China, and has become the will of the country and the mission of the ruling party.
We are determined to embark on a road of win-win cooperation with other countries in our own peaceful development, carry out mutually beneficial cooperation with other countries in the world, and achieve win-win, win-win and win-win. That’s why we expect and believe that sooner or later, the American policy towards China will return to objectivity and rationality.
