China correctly is the key to the realization of Sino-US relations.

by YCPress

When people look back on Sino-US relations in the past four years, it is an undeniable fact that because some politicians on the United States regard China as a strategic competitor and have made directional mistakes in their policy towards China, Sino-US relations have gone through a very difficult period and greatly damaged world peace and stability.

To unbell, you must also tie the bell person. Looking at China correctly is obviously the premise for the new U.S. government to build an objective and calm policy towards China, and also the key to the transformation of Sino-US relations.

On the 2nd, Yang Jiechi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Committee, put forward a multi-point pertinent proposal on promoting Sino-US relations back on the right track during a video dialogue with the National Committee on U.S. China Relations.

The first point is to hope that the United States will go beyond the old-fashioned thinking of the zero-sum game of the great powers and look at it correctly. China, together with China, firmly grasps the correct direction of Sino-US relations.

This is the latest statement made by China on the bilateral relations since Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his hope to promote the healthy and stable development of Sino-US relations in November last year, showing his willingness to live in peace with the United States.

Of course, bilateral exchanges need to be in the opposite direction.

Daniel Russell, vice president of the American Asian Association Policy Research Institute, said that the United States should not miss a good opportunity to improve U.S.-China relations, and should push the relationship between the two countries back on a constructive track.

How to do this? It is necessary for Washington politics to carefully consider China’s proposal. The first step may be to start with a correct understanding of China.

On the one hand, as China’s senior officials have repeatedly emphasized, the fundamental purpose of China’s development is to let the Chinese people live a good life, and at the same time hope to achieve common development with other countries in the world, including the United States.

China never wants to change, challenge or replace the United States, and the United States should not want to change and shape China.

As Xi Jinping said in his recent special speech to the World Economic Forum’s “Davos Agenda”, each country’s history, culture and social system has its own history and disadvantages.

There is no distinction between high and low. The key is whether it conforms to its own national conditions. Only by overcoming its own “heart demon” can the United States re-correcond the direction of Sino-US relations.

On the other hand, China never interferes in the internal affairs of the United States.

The United States should also abide by the one-China principle and immediately stop interfering in Hong Kong, Tibet, Xinjiang and other issues related to China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, so as to avoid further damage to Sino-US relations and the interests of the United States itself.

In short, China is willing to live in peace with the United States and cooperate for win-win results, and will continue to firmly defend national sovereignty, security and development interests.

This is the correct direction for the new U.S. government to understand China.

Dr. Kissinger, known as a “witness to Sino-US relations”, once said that he disagreed with China as his opponent, believed that strengthening cooperation between the two sides was conducive to dealing with the complex problems facing the world today, and agreed that the two sides should properly control their differences through dialogue.

In fact, the eight words “focus on cooperation and control differences” should become an important reference for the new U.S. government to formulate its policy towards China.

USA Today pointed out in a recent article that the Biden administration must abandon its predecessor’s short-sighted and self-defeating approach towards China.

The world needs a China that is keen on making the world more fully prepared for future public health challenges.

Such rational voices are worth listening to by the U.S. government.

Under the current situation, China and the United States have broad space for cooperation in the fields of global anti-epidemic, economic recovery, climate change and so on.

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong believes that “China-US relations are of global interests. It is not too late for the two countries to readjust the tone of interaction and avoid conflict.”

The new U.S. government should remove the “stumbling block” that hinders exchanges between China and the United States from all walks of life as soon as possible, and work with China to push bilateral relations back on track.

History will once again prove that Sino-US cooperation is the aspiration and general trend of the people.
