November 16th. According to the South American Overseas Chinese News Network, a chimpanzee “jailbreak” incident occurred in the Sorocaba Zoo in Sao Paulo, Brazil. 40 people participated in the chimpanzee capture. Afterwards, the chimpanzee returned smoothly to the enclosure of the zoo, and no animals or staff were injured in the hunt for the chimpanzee.

According to reports, the female chimpanzee is named Kelly and is 15 years old this year. It arrived in Sorocaba on November 6.

Mauricio Motta, director of the Sorocaba City Environment Bureau, said that after Kylie arrived at the zoo, she was locked up with another chimpanzee. On the 12th local time, Kelly escaped from the fence and climbed up a tree while the staff was delivering food.

After that, the fire department and municipal guards mobilized 40 people to participate in the chimpanzee capture operation. During the arrest, the zoo park was closed and tourists were evacuated.

According to the city government, the arrest took about two hours. The action team shot Kylie with an anesthesia gun, but the tranquilizer was not completely injected into Kylie’s body. At that time, the staff did not dare to act rashly.

However, Kelly then calmly returned to the enclosure.

It is said that after Kelly arrived at the zoo, she tried to escape many times. The Sorocaba City Environment Agency said it will investigate the cause of the chimpanzee’s escape.
