Chad appoints members of the Transitional Government

May 2 N’Djamena news: Chad’s military transitional council chairman Mohamed Idriss Deby 2 appointed members of the transitional government.

The Transitional Government comprises a total of 40 ministers, secretaries of state and secretaries of state, many of whom are from the previous Government and some from opposition parties. In addition, the Transitional Government has established a new Minister of State for National Reconciliation and Dialogue.

The Chadian Military Transitional Council has previously appointed former Prime Minister Albert Pahimi Padak as Prime Minister of the Transitional Government.

Chad’s military announced on April 20th that President Deby had died of injuries while commanding troops on the front lines fighting the rebels. Chad’s military announced the dissolution of the National Assembly and the Government on the same day, the establishment of a military transitional council, led by Deby’s son Mohamed Deby.
