December 18th the Carter Center issued a statement saying that after consulting a doctor, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter looked forward to getting a COVID-19 vaccine if he could.

Earlier, former U.S. Presidents Obama, George W. Bush and Clinton all said that they were willing to openly vaccinate against the novel coronavirus to reduce public doubts about the safety of the new vaccine.

Carter is 96 years old and the oldest president in the United States so far. During his presidential term from 1977 to 1981, China and the United States officially established diplomatic relations.
