by YCPress

January 31, the number of deaths from COVID-19 in Canada has increased by 69, bringing the cumulative number of deaths from COVID-19 in Canada to more than 20,000, reaching 2001,1.

Meanwhile, 3,225 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have reached 7,78,273.

Since the cumulative number of cases in Canada exceeded 700,000 on January 16, Canada’s coronavirus epidemic has shown a slow decline in new cases, from nearly 6,500 new cases on January 16, to 4,255 new cases on January 30.

However, the number of deaths has remained high, fluctuating around 130.

Another noteworthy problem is that the number of mutant COVID-19 infections is gradually increasing.

Due to the lack of relevant statistics, it is not clear the proportion of new mutant COVID-19 cases per day in the increasing number of cases, but according to Alberta statistics, the province added 383 new cases on January 30.

There are 31 cases belonging to the British variant of COVID-19 B117 and 6 cases belonging to the South African variant COVID-19 B1351 variant, a total of 37 cases, accounting for about one-tenth of the new cases that day.

According to the statistics and forecast reports of the Ontario government, this proportion is showing an expanding trend.
