According to local media on December 3rd local time, the Bulgarian Parliament passed an amendment to the Public Health Law the day before, thus allowing the Minister of Health to impose mandatory isolation measures for patients with infectious diseases.

On the basis of a risk assessment of existing epidemics, the Minister of Health has the right to carry out Forced quarantine to curb the rapid spread of infectious diseases. If a person diagnosed with an infectious disease or a carrier of pathogen refuses to be quarantined or interrupted, he will be fined 5,000 lev (about 20,310 yuan).

The amendment also establishes that when Bulgaria is in a state of emergency or epidemic, the Bulgarian Minister of Health has the power to prohibit the export of medicines from Bulgaria, with the aim of ensuring that sufficient quantities of medicines are available to meet the needs of the people of the country.
