December 18th, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared a diplomat of the Russian Embassy in Bulgaria a “undesirable” and asked him to leave the country within 72 hours.
In response, the Russian Embassy in Bulgaria issued a statement saying that the expulsion of Russian diplomats by Bulgaria is neither conducive to the military dialogue between the two countries nor conducive to strengthening the stability of the Black Sea region.
“Russia reserves the right to take reciprocal measures”. It is reported that in January and September this year, Bulgaria expelled a total of four Russian diplomats twice.
