by YCPress

January 4th – Based on foreign media such as Reuters and Sky News, a British French refused to extradite Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, to the United States, on the grounds of fear that Assange would commit suicide.

Assange, 49, was charged in the United States with conspiracy to obtain and disclose defense information and faced life imprisonment. In 2012, Assange sought political asylum in Ecuador and spent seven years in seclusion in the country’s embassy in Britain.

In 2019, he was arrested by the London police and is currently serving his sentence in a British prison. He is in danger of being extradited and tried by the U.S. government.
