Evening August 12th 2021 a mass shooting in Plymouth, south-west England, killed six people, including a child and a suspect.
Two women and three men, including the suspect, died at the scene, and one woman died of serious injuries after being taken to hospital, Devon and Cornwall Police said in a statement, the Times reported Wednesday. The suspect, Jack Davidson, a 22-year-old man who posted a video three weeks before the incident calling himself “a virgin with depression, complained that he wanted a chance to get rid of his “virgin” status and make up for missing out on sex during puberty because no one favored his mother’s single mother, the report said.
Police described the case as a “major shooting incident” and said the situation was under control, the report said. Police added that the incident was not terrorism-related. It was the first major shooting in Britain in 11 years.
The Times quoted witness Sharon Turner as saying the suspect randomly broke into a semi-detached house at gunpoint and shot a mother and daughter, who are understood to be as young as five. The suspect then tried to escape from the back of the house and shot three passers-by during the escape.
“The events in Plymouth are shocking and my heart goes out to those affected.” Priti Patel, the home secretary, tweeted: “I have spoken to the sheriff and will give my full support to their work. Hopefully everyone will stay calm and follow the advice of the police so that our emergency services can continue to work. ”
