Britain will send warships to the Black Sea in May as the situation in eastern Ukraine heats up, the Sunday Times reported, citing senior British naval officials. Reported that the deployment is to show Ukraine and Britain and other NATO allies unity.
A Type 45 destroyer equipped with anti-aircraft missiles and a Type 23 anti-submarine frigate will carry out the mission.
In addition, the Royal Air Force will be on standby. A British government official said the British government was working closely with Ukraine to monitor the situation and called for a de-escalation of tensions.
Britain’s Ministry of Defence had no immediate comment on the report.
