Brazil’s National Health Surveillance Agency announced on the 21st that in view of the recent increase in the infectivity of new variants of the novel coronavirus in the United Kingdom, flights from the United Kingdom will be subject to stricter health and safety inspections from now on.

Security inspection measures include that before passengers on flights to and from the United Kingdom disembark, health supervisors will board the plane, register the information and health status of all passengers and crew, open special customs clearance channels for these passengers, prohibit passengers from entering the airport duty-free zone, and guide passengers to comply with the epidemic prevention regulations in Brazil.

After the passenger leaves, supervise and guide the disinfection of the aircraft.

Unlike Latin American countries such as Argentina, Chile and Colombia, Brazil has not stopped flights with the United Kingdom at present.

On the 17th of this month, the Brazilian government announced a new regulation that all passengers entering Brazil through flights are required to provide a negative COVID-19 test report before boarding the plane. This provision will be implemented from December 30.

At present, there are flights between the two cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in Brazil to and from the United Kingdom and other EU countries.

On the evening of the 21st, a flight from the United Kingdom became the first aircraft to be inspected after the new regulations were promulgated.
