The Brazilian federal government announced on December 23 local time that in view of the extremely infectiousness of the new coronavirus variants currently found in the United Kingdom, Brazil will suspend all flights from Brazil to and from the United Kingdom from December 25.
This proclamation was signed by the three ministers of the Brazilian Ministry of Housing, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, and the Ministry of Health.
Passengers entering Brazil by air from other countries other than the UK are required to provide a negative report of COVID-19 test results 72 hours before boarding, the announcement said.
This provision will be implemented from December 30.
The proclamation also stipulates that from the present day (23rd), any alien of non-Brazilian nationality shall be prohibited from entering Brazil by land and water, but holders of a Brazilian permanent residence permit, foreign government staff going to Brazil and foreigners employed by the Brazilian government are not prohibited.
