Brazilian Health Minister Eduardo Pazullo announced in Rio de Janeiro on the afternoon of the 17th local time that from 7:00 a.m. on the 18th, the Brazilian federal government will distribute COVID-19 vaccines to capitals across the country and carry out a comprehensive COVID-19 vaccination campaign from 10:00 on Wednesday (20th).

At present, all the vaccines distributed by Brazil to the whole country will come from the Butantan Institute in São Paulo.

The 6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines that have been produced at the institute will be fully integrated into the Brazilian Unified Medical System (SUS).

The first coronavirus vaccines will be targeted to seniors over 60 years of age, indigenous people and healthcare workers, Pazulo said.
