December 22nd, BioNTech, a German vaccine manufacturer, said on Tuesday that it and Pfizer will supply 12.5 million doses of coronavirus vaccine to the European Union by the end of this month.
According to Reuters, BioNTech CEO Sean Marett said at a press conference that this is more than half of the 20 million doses expected to be delivered to the United States by the end of this month.
Since the vaccine needs to be administered twice every three weeks, the EU will have enough vaccine to vaccinate 6.25 million people.
Marett said that the 27 EU member states that want to obtain the vaccine will get the vaccine within five days.
