Last step for biden’s way to the White House

December 16th – Comprehensive report: After the U.S. Electoral College voted to confirm the election results, on the 15th, the majority leader of the U.S. Senate and Republican McConnell made a speech, publicly admitting Biden’s victory for the first time.

On the same day, the inaugural committee of the President of the United States announced that President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris will be sworn in on the west side of the Capitol on January 20, 2021.

On December 14th local time, after the U.S. Electoral College officially confirmed that Biden defeated Trump in the 2020 U.S. presidential election, U.S. President-elect Biden delivered a televised speech at the transition headquarters of the Queen’s Theatre in Wilmington, Delaware.

Pompeo will meet with Blinken

On December 15, U.S. Senate Majority Leader McConnell said that although many people had hoped for a different result, the voters had officially voted and the presidential election results had been produced.

He congratulated Biden and Harris, saying Biden was “for many years committed to public service” and that Harris was “the first female vice president to be proud of all Americans”.

Biden also said on the same day that he had talked to McConnell, and the two agreed to meet as soon as possible. Biden told reporters, “Although we disagree on many things, there are some things we can work with. We agreed to meet as soon as possible.”

In addition, U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo plans to meet with Biden’s nominee for Secretary of State, Lincoln, this week. This may be the first cabinet-level handover contact between the outgoing Trump administration and Biden’s new government’s national security team.

Sources said that Pompeo and Broncoln temporarily arranged to meet at the State Department on the 17th.

The scale of the inauguration will be reduced.

Whether Trump will participate is still unknown.

The U.S. Presidential Inaugural Committee reportedly said that Biden and Harris will be sworn in on the west side of the Capitol on January 20, 2021. Biden will deliver his inaugural address setting out his vision for fighting the pandemic, rebuilding and uniting the country.

The committee said that the scale of the ceremony would be limited, and the inauguration parade after the ceremony would be different from the past. The committee urged Americans not to travel to Washington for the celebration, but to participate in virtual form.

At present, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the United States has exceeded 16.65 million, and the cumulative number of deaths has exceeded 300,000.

“We ask Americans to watch the inaugural ceremony at home to protect themselves, their families, friends and communities,” said David Kessler, the committee’s chief medical adviser.

The presidential inauguration ceremony usually invites hundreds of dignitaries, and at least hundreds of thousands of spectators flock to the National Mall to witness the ceremony.

The current President of the United States, Trump, has so far refused to admit his defeat in the election and whether he will attend Biden’s inauguration ceremony.

On the day of the voters’ vote, Trump posted on social media that “the U.S. election was manipulated”.

Due to Trump’s frequent doubts about the fairness of the election, demonstrators gathered outside the venue on December 14 at some voter polling sites, and the Michigan State Capitol was temporarily closed due to “bomb threat calls”.
