November 21st U.S. Department of Justice announced that it would carry out three more people, all of which will be carried out before the new president takes office on January 20, 2021.
According to the Capitol Hill, the criminals involved in the death penalty include Alfred Bourgeois, Cory Johnson and Dustin John Higg. s). The three were charged with “murder of children”, “murder of seven people” and “kidnapping and murder of three women”. The execution of the death penalty is scheduled for three different dates from December 2020 to January 2021.
The current known execution date for Higgs is set for January 15, 2021. According to the U.S. media, the date is set a few days before the new president takes office.
Just before U.S. Attorney General Barr announced the news, U.S. media reported that three other people would also be executed in the near future. The Hill notes that once Biden takes office, it will reverse the Trump administration’s approach to reintroducing the death penalty.
According to the New York Times, Robert Dunham, executive director of the U.S. Death Penalty Information Center, believes that the decision to carry out these executions in the White House during the transitional period is extraordinary. So far, the U.S. Department of Justice has not responded.
