According to Azerbaijani media quoting the country’s aviation department, from the 10th of this month to January 31, 2021, all airports in Azerbaijan will be closed and regular air passenger transport will be completely suspended.
During this period, only specially approved flights approved by the Afghan National Epidemic Prevention and Control Headquarters can be operated.
There are six international airports in Azerbaijan. In 2019, Azerbaijan International Airport received 5.56 million passengers.
According to reports, the epidemic situation in Azerbaijan is serious, and the national quarantine of COVID-19 epidemic prevention has been extended to January 31, 2021. All land and air borders of the country have been closed.
As of December 9, a total of 158,555 cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed in Azerbaijan. A total of 96,330 cases have been cured and 1,755 deaths have been reported, and 60,470 people are still receiving treatment.
