Local militia leader Abukuku Kabu said that Pemi, a predominantly Christian village in Borno Oblast, attacked Pemi on December 24 by truck and motorcycle militants, looted supplies and burned down some of the village’s houses.

It is understood that in many parts of Nigeria, community residents have begun to take self-defense measures, working with the army to form armed guards or militias to jointly defend against foreign attacks.
