On May 11, local time, a fire broke out at a chemical plant in Iwakuma, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, at the Tomoto plant in the 堺 chemical industry in the city of Panyan.
According to the fire department, local time on the 11th before 8 o’clock, nearby residents and many other people reported “explosions and smoke.” It is reported that at least four men were injured, including two male staff members in their 60s in the factory suffered burns to their bodies and were taken to hospital.
A male staff member in his 20s and a male staff member in his 40s were also slightly injured and are being treated in hospital. Local firefighting is working to put out the fire. The factory involved in the accident mainly produces some raw chemicals for use in coatings, cosmetics and so on.
