A bus carrying more than 50 people crashed into a canal by the roadside.

According to Indian media reports, at least 47 people were killed in the accident, including one child.

Another seven people, with the help of nearby villagers, swam on the bank of the river and survived.

According to local officials, the bus lost control at the time of the accident and was completely submerged after falling into the canal, when the 32-seat bus carried more than 50 passengers.
