April 21, officials and local residents in Zamfara state in northwest Nigeria confirmed that a large number of armed men on motorcycles attacked four villages in the state, killing at least 30 people, according to Channel TV.
Armed attacks and kidnappings by armed bandits are frequent in Nigeria, with Zamfara state among the worst-hit areas.
On 26 February, 279 girls from a girls’ secondary school in the state were abducted by armed men and released on 2 March, while on 2 March more than 100 miners were abducted.
