At least 12 people have died in a fire at a designated hospital in western India treating patients with Coronavirus

April 23, local time, a fire broke out in the intensive care unit of a designated hospital in the western Indian state of Maharashtra that treated patients with Coronavirus. Local officials say the fire killed at least 12 patients.

Local media said the accident was caused by a short circuit. The official findings have not yet been made public.

On 21 April, 24 Coronavirus patients died in an oxygen storage device leak at another designated hospital in Maharashtra.

Maharashtra is currently the worst affected region in India, with 67,013 new confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
