According to a report on January 12, the head of the Department of Veterans Affairs of Illinois resigned due to the outbreak of the “Veteran’s Home”.

According to the report, Illinois Governor Pritzker announced on January 11 that Linda Chappa Lavia, the director of the state’s Department of Veterans Affairs, will leave.

Pritzker said that Lavia’s departure was a “communal decision” after the outbreak of COVID-19 in several “Veteran’s homes” in the state.

Outbreaks include the La Salle Veterans Home, which has 39 residents who have died of COVID-19.

“What we want to do is restore confidence in our VA, and we want to do our best to take care of our veterans,” Pritzker said at a press conference.

Pritzker’s office and the Department of Veterans Affairs are working to identify what causes the outbreak at La Salle Veterans’ Home.

The agency’s first positive case was discovered at the end of October last year, when a staff member and a resident contracted the virus.

In addition, at least 17 veterans died in Quincy nursing home in Illinois due to the coronavirus outbreak, and at least 19 veterans died in Mantenor nursing home.
