Arabiya TV reported on February 20 that Iraqi state media quoted the country’s military on Saturday as saying that at least four Katyusha rockets hit Ballad Air Force Base, north of Baghdad, the Iraqi capital, where U.S. personnel are stationed.

The Iraqi report did not mention the number of casualties or indicate the identity of the mastermind behind the attack.

According to Reuters, late on the 15th local time, an air base in Iraqi Kurdistan was attacked by rockets, killing a foreign contractor and injuring six others, including an American soldier.

U.S. Secretary of State Blinken said: “I have contacted Prime Minister Masrul Barzani of the Kurdistan Regional Government to discuss this incident and assure us of our support for all efforts to investigate and hold accountable those responsible.”
