May 3 2021, An elderly couple in the United States managed to decipher the electronic lock code of their nursing home and escaped after relying on hearing, U.S. media reported. The nursing home later faced a significant fine.
The incident took place at a nursing home in Tennessee, Fox News and other media reported Tuesday. The escaped couple had dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, but they were smart, and their husband had studied the Moss Code in military training.
It is reported that when the nursing home staff on the keyboard to enter the password, the husband will listen carefully, and finally cracked the door lock password, and on March 2 local time with his wife fled. But just 30 minutes later, the old couple were spotted on the street two blocks away.
U.S. media pointed out that since February this year, the husband has shown some disturbing behavior, such as walking around, repeatedly looking for exports.
The staff noticed the behaviour, increased his examination and arranged for him to take some outdoor walks, but were unable to contain his impulse to escape.
“Immediately after the incident, we reported the situation to the state government and their families and cooperated fully with the review,” the nursing home’s director said in a statement. The nursing home is understood to face a $2,000 fine and all exit codes at the facility have been changed since the incident.
